Service: Re-Instate Community Hub – Living Well

Job Title:Living Active Co-Ordinator

Hours and salary: 12 hours/week Salary £9,235.20/annum

Base: Community Hub in Erith

Reports to: Community Hub Manager

Employee’s position is that of a Living Active Coordinator.

Brief description of the work for which you are employed:

To co-ordinate and deliver high-quality sporting activities as part of Living Active.
To deliver coaching sessions that are participant-centred, structured, progressive, fun and of a high quality.
To undertake the necessary planning for each activity session to ensure the programme demonstrates progression throughout.
To continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities and programmes.
To adapt sessions to cater for different ranges of ability and take into account clients with learning disabilities, autistic adults and others.
To undertake administrative tasks associated with the post, including planning sessions, taking registers, consent forms and engaging with other organisations.
To provide appropriate mentoring, support, guidance and advice to other volunteers.
To always be a positive role model.
To ensure all equipment associated with the coaching programme is correctly set up, maintained, stored and returned on completion of the coaching programme.
To build relationships with local Partners such as local charities and sporting clubs.
To be familiar and comply with Re-Instate’s health and safety regulations and to undertake activity/venue risk assessments prior to all sessions, and report and record incidents/accidents/hazards.
To adhere to the sports coach UK Code of Practice for Sports Coaches.
To respect the rights of all participants and ensure that their well-being and safety are always considered.
To represent Re-Instate and Living Active at events to promote the service.
To cover Living Well sessions when called upon due to holidays or Annual leave.

The Employee may from time to time be required to carry out such other reasonable duties as the Employer may decide, should this be necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Person Specification

Essential criteria:

Experience of working with and supporting people with learning disabilities.
Experience of running group sporting activities
Evidence of working with peer led projects.
Experience of working with local stakeholders.
Knowledge and practical experience in safeguarding processes and knowledge of relevant legislation.
Demonstrable administrative and IT skills.

And the ability to:

Maintain professional boundaries.
Solve problems quickly and effectively in a collaborative way.
Communicate confidently and effectively and adapt communication style and content to meet the needs of the audience.
Respond flexibly to the demands of the post.
Work as a member of the overall team.
Demonstrate a capacity to work alone effectively and the ability to keep calm under pressure.
Understand and have a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity.
Develop an understanding of the needs and lived experiences of people experiencing mental ill health, all levels of autism and people with learning disabilities.

Desirable criteria:

Knowledge of local services, businesses and geography in Bexley.
