Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Transport Compliance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are maintained in a safe, roadworthy and compliant condition. This will include managing vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, MOTs, servicing schedules, defect reporting. The role will also include driver compliance and performance. This will involve ensuring that drivers are appropriately trained, competent and aware of their responsibilities in relation to daily vehicle checks, defect reporting, safe driving standards, tachograph compliance, drivers’ hours, working time requirements and company procedures. You will work closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams to maintain smooth operations whilst ensuring compliance and cost control across the fleet

Key Responsibilities

O Licence compliance
Oversee fleet performance
Ensure compliance with transport legislation, tachographs, vehicle regulations, and health & safety requirements
Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs, and repairs in line with operational needs, in line with Operator Licence requirements and DVSA expectations.
Overseeing daily vehicle checks and ensuring defects are reported, actioned and closed out appropriately
Maintaining accurate fleet records, including vehicle details, service history, MOT dates, inspection records, defects, repairs and compliance documentation
Lead on the effective management of driver hours by authorising driver timesheets on a weekly basis and auditing and updating hours against the relevant systems to guarantee they are compliant to all regulations
Producing regular transport and fleet reports for senior management
Track vehicle issues, damages, and costs, implementing improvements where necessary
Support operational continuity by providing management cover when required
Supporting the development and delivery of driver training, including vehicle checks, defect reporting, safe driving, fuel efficiency and accident prevention
Address performance issues or training needs – Conducting Infringement and performance discussions
Ordering of equipment/resources required by workshop
Keeping up to date with relevant transport legislation and industry best practice

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Transport Manager or Supervisor with leadership responsibility
Transport Manager CPC holder and recent CPD
Ability to hold an O Licence
Strong understanding of transport compliance and legislation
Knowledge of DVSA standards, tachograph compliance, drivers’ hours and working time regulations
Experience using fleet management systems and telematics platforms
Commercially aware with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
Strong leadership and communication abilities
Ability to work within a fast-paced operational environment
Confidently challenging standards and driving accountability
IOSH or other relevant Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous

Pay: From £34,000.00 per year
