Full job description

DPAS is a market leader providing flexible and pragmatic data protection and data strategy services to public and private sector organisations. Our company is headed by a team of highly qualified Data Protection Officers with decades of experience between them. Due to on-going expansion, we are looking for an Subject Access Request Redaction Officer to join our establish SAR team.

We are looking to recruit a flexible, self-motivated, mature in outlook, team member who will work as part of the Subject Access Requests Team assisting in the reviewing and redaction of clients’ Subject Access Requests. You do not need experience to apply, you just need to be organised and have great attention to detail, if you love reading it would be a bonus. You will have the ability to analyse written data and extract information effectively.

Although this is an Exeter based position, we operate a hybrid working system which will require attendance at our office three days a week. We will consider remote working but you will be required to attend in-person training at our offices for a minimum of one month (please note that due to the location of our offices a driving licence is required).

Throughout your time working with DPAS you will be given multiple training opportunities, such as doing BCS training courses and other accredited data protection courses.

The Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide proactive and professional administrative redaction services as part of our Subject Access Request Team. Whilst some experience would be great, full training can be given, so a keen eye for detail and a desire to learn are most important.

Main tasks:

You will be involved in processing data subject rights requests.

This will include, but is not limited to:

Managing a varied and complex workload.
Prioritising tasks in order to meet our clients’ requirements.
Reviewing and analysing complex documents that include personal information, on behalf of our clients.
Redacting appropriate information and applying necessary exemptions to complex requests, in line with the relevant legislation.
Assisting and supporting the release of data, on behalf of clients.

You will also be responsible for:

Building on, and continuing to develop a solid knowledge base of legislation, regulations and technical documents.
Maintaining internal records and logs for data subject rights requests.
Assisting in ad hoc duties as and when required.

What we require from you:

Must be a self-starter and able to work autonomously
Organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a high volume of tasks to demanding timelines.
Excellent attention to detail & accuracy
Knowledge of, or an interest in, data protection laws and regulations.

It would be a bonus if you also had:

Experience working in a compliance department.
Experience working with data protection and the GDPR.
Experience working in a process-driven environment.
Experience with subject access requests.
