At Electricity Asset Services (EAS), we are looking for three Trainee Jointers to join our family-run business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in jointing, gain hands-on experience, and develop new skills within a supportive environment.
This is a structured training role, where successful candidates will work through a training programme and complete a range of practical tasks as part of their learning and development.
The role will be based at our Head Office in Lochgelly, with work carried out across sites throughout Central Scotland. The position involves a 40–45 hour working week and offers valuable practical experience within a supportive and growing business.
Who we are
EAS specialise in procurement, design, management and execution of all works associated with High and Low voltage underground electricity networks on behalf of major framework contractors and Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s).
We have over 40 years combined experience specific to our services such as
HV/LV cable jointing and terminating, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, 24 hours emergency call out, project management and more. Our purpose is to positively contribute to the electrical industry, providing value to our clients, customers, and our people.
Overall purpose of the role
The role of Trainee Jointer is to support experienced Jointers in the installation and maintenance of electrical cables and connections, while developing the practical skills, technical knowledge, and safety awareness required to progress towards becoming a fully qualified Jointer.
This role provides a structured pathway into the electricity industry through hands-on training, mentorship, and formal qualifications, supporting both personal development and the successful delivery of works.
Due to the requirements for authorisation on the networks and the safety-critical nature of the role, applicants must be aged 17 or over.
This will be achieved by:
- Working alongside and learning from experienced Jointers on site
- Assisting in the installation, connection, and maintenance of electrical cables
- Participating in structured on-the-job training and development programmes
- Following all health and safety procedures to ensure safe working practices
- Successfully completing required training and certifications to progress within the role
Main Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities
As Jointing Trainee, you will be expected to perform any of the following tasks:
- Assist experienced Jointers with the installation, jointing, and termination of electrical cables
- Prepare tools, equipment, and materials required for daily tasks
- Contribute to daily risk assessments to ensure safe working practices are followed
- Learn how to accurately complete work instructions and documentation
- Maintain a professional company image in line with company standards
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and instructions
- Communicate effectively with team members and site supervisors
- Gain experience in LV, HV, and 33kV cable jointing and termination techniques
- Use approved tools, equipment, and materials safely and correctly
- Assist in locating faults on underground networks and supporting emergency repairs to restore power
- Help ensure all joints and terminations meet required quality and testing standards
- Support the connection of new electrical supplies to residential and commercial properties
- Carry out any other duties reasonably required
