About Us

The Norway Inn is a well-established and highly regarded pub and restaurant located in Perranarworthal, near Truro. Known for our quality food, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to excellent customer service, we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable dining experience for every guest. We are now looking for a passionate and ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team and develop their career within a supportive and professional environment.

Job Description

Due to continued growth within the business, we are seeking an enthusiastic and aspiring future kitchen leader to join our team as a Junior Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about food, eager to learn, and ready to take the next step in their culinary career.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

-Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes to company standards.

-Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen.

-Help oversee service periods, ensuring consistency and quality across all dishes.

-Assist in training, mentoring, and developing junior chefs and apprentices.

-Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.

-Ensure full compliance with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations.

-Support stock control, food rotation, and waste management procedures.

-Contribute ideas towards menu development and seasonal specials.

-Promote a positive, professional, and team-focused kitchen culture.

Requirements

-Previous experience in a Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef, or similar role.

-A genuine passion for food and hospitality.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

-Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.

-Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

-A willingness to learn, develop, and progress within the business.

-Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Qualifications & Experience

-Minimum 3 years' experience working in a professional kitchen environment

-Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and SFBB procedures.

-Experience supervising or supporting junior team members is desirable.

-Relevant catering or hospitality qualifications are advantageous but not essential.

-Food Safety certification preferred.
