Patient Services Advisor

Reports to: Operations Manager

Accountable to: Operational Leads

Shifts available:

Various Shifts available Monday to Friday 0745 - 1830

AM shift: 0745 - 1315, PM shift: 1300 - 1830 All day 0745 - 1830

**FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 1 YEAR**

Pay Starting at£ 13.03 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:

The role of reception call handler, being the first port of call, is to ensure all incoming calls or face to face appointments are received and responded to in a timely manner.
To be able to signpost patients to the appropriate clinician or service.
Assisting with E-consults and promoting on-line applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To be able to triage calls, directing clients/patients appropriately to relevant services
To have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in writing (letters and electronically) and verbally with a wide range of providers and users of services, including patients; carers; voluntary; social; primary and secondary care providers
To maintain an accurate database of services available to clients/patients
To understand, and be able to disseminate, health promotion information, using this to identify clients who might benefit from these services and to signpost accordingly to the Social Prescribing Team.
To keep accurate records of all client/patient contacts, using the organisation databases and templates as directed, updating as necessary
To understand the importance of confidentiality
To respond appropriately in emergency situations

To report any incidents that might compromise health and safety for self, other staff or customers/patients

Managing the flow of patients at the desk and in the waiting room
Dealing with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously
Pulling and filing medical records as necessary
Ordering hospital transport
Any other duties agreed between the employee and The Network

JOB DESCRIPTION AGREEMENT: This job description is intended to provide an outline of the key tasks and responsibilities only. There may be other duties required of the post-holder commensurate with this position. This description will be open to regular review and may be amended to take into account development or changes within the The Highlands Practice, Whiteley Surgery & Jubilee Surgery All members of staff should be prepared to work, flexibly within the The Highlands Practice, Whiteley Surgery & Jubilee Surgery.

Ability to commute/relocate:

Fareham, PO15 6JF, PO15 7LB, PO14 4EH: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work
Office based role, no remote working.
