Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and friendly Reception & Cafe Operative to join our vibrant Climbing & Soft Play Centre. In this lively role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, providing exceptional guest services while managing the café area with enthusiasm and professionalism. Your energetic approach will ensure a welcoming atmosphere where families and guests feel valued and cared for. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fun-filled environment that promotes active play and memorable experiences for all ages.

Main responsibilities (Reception):

Keeping accurate time sheets daily
Answer emails and answerphone messages
Take payments (in person and over the phone)
Make bookings (in person and over the phone)
Organise group bookings
Book birthday parties (including sending payment reminders and collecting final payments)
Cash up till(s)
Charity requests
Keep reception ‘topped up’ (wristbands, Valo codes, disclaimer sheets, merchandise, stationery...)
Ensure all information is up-to-date, for customers and other staff members (checking website, Facebook posts, tills...)
Administrative tasks given by General manager or assistant
Cleaning and general tidiness of reception/downstairs areas

Servery Area:

Welcome customers and give them a great experience
Present products in an attractive and inviting way
Assist with customer enquiries and bookings for the Clip ‘n Climb centre.
Create and bake fantastic cakes/bakes within the company guidelines
Assist the organisation and provisions for birthday parties and corporate events.
Undergo relevant training courses
Cleaning duties, including washing, sanitizing, and drying dishes
Re-stock refrigerators, shelves, and displays
Maintain high cleaning standards throughout the café and facilities in accordance with health and safety legislation & current best practice guidelines
Report any issues to the Manager
Ensure that any risk assessments are complied with
Operate the till system and cash handling
Assist with ordering supplies, locally where possible
Check that orders have been correctly delivered and charged for
Serve customers in a pleasant and courteous manner
Keep cleaning and temperature records
Undertake the preparation of the food and beverages served in the café
Report and carry out basic maintenance tasks

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

Customer service experience and skills
Previous reception experience desirable
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite
Good communication skills
Strong organisational skills
Ability to deal with difficult situations and remain calm
Ability to identify and resolve issues
Self-starter, good use of initiative
Punctual, able to work under own initiative without supervision
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
An enthusiastic team player and be able to work with other colleagues in a dynamic business
Able to work under pressure
Previous catering experience desirable but not essential
Willingness to learn and develop
Flexible and adaptable in undertaking varying activities

Qualifications - Not essential but desired:

Food hygiene level 2
Food handling level 2

The successful candidates will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
