Full job description

Location: Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: Early August 2026

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Carpenter to join our growing team. This is a full-time role working across hospital sites in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.

The successful candidate will combine high-quality carpentry skills with fire door inspection and surveying responsibilities, helping to ensure compliance, safety and quality within healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out a range of carpentry and maintenance works.
Conduct detailed fire door inspections in line with current fire safety regulations.
Record inspection findings accurately using digital reporting systems.
Identify defects and recommend or carry out remedial works where required.
Work safely and professionally within occupied hospital environments.
Liaise with site staff and management to ensure work is completed efficiently and with minimal disruption.

Essential Requirements

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry (or equivalent qualification).
Proven experience as a qualified carpenter.
Good knowledge of fire doors and fire door compliance.
Ability to carry out detailed inspections and produce accurate reports.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

Fire Door Inspection qualification (FDIS or equivalent).
Previous experience working in hospitals, healthcare, or other live environments.
Knowledge of current fire safety legislation and building regulations.
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
