Full job description

About Us:

The Early Years Educator / Early Years Practitioner at Maryam's Nursery is responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Statutory Framework, and Ofsted guidance. The role involves supporting the developmental, emotional, and social needs of children, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Childcare and Education:

Implement the EYFS framework to plan and deliver engaging learning activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children.
Observe and assess children's development and progress using appropriate tools and techniques, documenting and reporting on their achievements and areas for improvement.
Support children’s learning through play, providing a range of activities that promote their physical, social, and cognitive development.
Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their independence and confidence.

Health, Safety, and Well-being:

Ensure the health and safety of children at all times, following nursery
policies and procedures, including risk assessments and safeguarding protocols.
Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment that is conducive to children's learning and development.
Adhere to hygiene and food safety standards, supporting children during mealtimes and managing any special dietary needs.

Behaviour Management:

Implement positive behaviour management strategies that promote a respectful and supportive atmosphere within the nursery.
Address any behavioural issues in a constructive and appropriate manner,
in line with nursery policies.
Support children in developing social skills, including sharing, turn-taking, and effective communication.

Parent and Carer Communication:

Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers,providing regular updates on their child’s progress and well-being.
Share information with parents regarding their child's day, including achievements, challenges, and any concerns.
Participate in parent meetings and consultations, as required, to discuss children’s development and support their learning at home.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with colleagues, including Room Leaders and other practitioners, to ensure the effective running of the room and nursery.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of the nursery’s curriculum and policies.
Support and mentor new staff members or apprentices, providing guidance and sharing best practices.

Administrative Duties:

Complete and maintain accurate records related to children’s development, attendance, and any incidents or concerns.
Ensure that all documentation and records are up-to-date and comply with statutory requirements and nursery policies.

Professional Development:

Engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with changes in early years education and best practices.
Reflect on practice and seek opportunities for improvement and growth within the role.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education (Level 3 ispreferred).
Previous experience working in an early years setting, with a good understanding of the EYFS framework and statutory requirements.
Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications or a willingness to obtain these.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of child development and the EYFS framework.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to plan and deliver a range of activities that support children’s learning and development.
Positive and proactive attitude with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

High-quality interactions with children that support their learning and development.
Positive feedback from parents and carers regarding the care and education provided.
Accurate and timely documentation of children’s progress and any incidents or concerns.
Compliance with nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety standards.
Active participation in team activities and professional development opportunities.

Additional Information:

This role requires an enhanced DBS check and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet the needs of the nursery and children.

Pay: £26,436.80-£28,290.00 per year
