Overview

We are seeking a proactive and friendly Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, supporting daily shop operations, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will be organised, personable, and eager to contribute to a positive shopping experience. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in customer service, administration, and IT within a dynamic retail setting.

Duties

Greeting customers warmly and assisting with their enquiries in a professional manner
Operating the shop’s point-of-sale system to process transactions efficiently and accurately
Managing stock levels, replenishing shelves, and organising displays to maintain an attractive shop environment
Handling administrative tasks such as record keeping, inventory management, and updating product information using IT systems
Providing support with general shop maintenance and cleanliness to ensure a safe and tidy space
Assisting with organising promotional events or special offers as required
Supporting colleagues with various administrative duties to ensure smooth daily operations

Skills

Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously
Basic IT skills, including familiarity with point-of-sale systems and data entry programmes
Previous administrative experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
Organised with excellent attention to detail to manage stock and administrative tasks effectively
Friendly demeanour with a proactive approach to assisting customers and team members
