An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Medway Community Healthcare's Tissue Viability and Wound Clinic Service as a Band 6 Senior Wound Clinic Nurse.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced nurse to join our developing service. If you have experience in the assessment and management of acute and chronic wounds and a desire to further develop your specialist knowledge and leadership skills, we would love to hear from you. This is a unique opportunity to work in our dedicated wound clinics which cover all types of wound and leg ulcer care across Medway.
This post is a varied role and working within our dedicated Tissue Viability and Wound Clinic Service, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of wound types while supporting the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred services for patients.
You will also combine expert clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting the day-to-day operational management of wound clinics, line managing staff and contributing to the ongoing transformation and development of the service.
You will need to be flexible as the wound clinics operate 7 days a week.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based wound care whilst providing day-to-day clinical leadership within the Wound Clinic Service.
Independently undertake comprehensive and holistic assessments, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
Deliver specialist wound care using current national guidance, local policies, wound care formularies and best practice standards.
Manage patients with a variety of wound types and assess wound aetiology
Undertake thorough lower limb and doppler assessments
Recognise deterioration, identify clinical risk and escalate concerns appropriately.
Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
Provide day-to-day clinical leadership within the wound clinic service.
Act as a role model for professional practice and evidence-based wound management.
Line manage designated nursing staff and Healthcare Assistants
Mentor students, newly appointed staff, preceptees and developing practitioners.
Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment.
Coordinate clinic activity to ensure effective patient flow and optimal use of clinic capacity.
Work collaboratively as part of the MDT team.
Ensure compliance with professional standards, organisational policies and clinical governance requirements.
Support the reduction of unwarranted variation in wound care practice across the service.

Qualifications
Essential
Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
Practice Assessor qualification.
Tissue Viability, Wound Care or Leg Ulcer Management qualification.
Nurse Prescriber qualification or willingness to undertake training.
Relevant post-graduate qualification relating to wound care, long-term conditions or chronic disease management.
Experience
Essential
Significant post-registration clinical experience.
Experience working within community nursing, district nursing, general practice, outpatient services, tissue viability or another clinical setting with a substantial wound care caseload.
Experience assessing and managing acute and chronic wounds.
Experience delivering evidence-based wound care.
Experience supervising, supporting or line managing staff.
Experience coordinating clinical workload, clinic activity or service delivery.
Experience working autonomously whilst contributing to multidisciplinary team working.
Experience supporting quality improvement, audit or service development initiatives.
Desirable
Experience within a Tissue Viability Service.
Leg ulcer management experience.
Doppler assessment competency.
