Full job description

At Baylis, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our team in Cheltenham on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. Offering earnings of up to £45,000 OTE, this role provides the chance to work within a supportive team environment while continuing to develop your technical skills through ongoing manufacturer training. We also offer flexibility around working hours, helping you achieve a better work-life balance while supporting the needs of the business.

Position Overview

As a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of customer vehicles through diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs. Working with a variety of vehicle systems, you will identify and resolve faults efficiently while maintaining high manufacturer and company standards.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive, customer-focused approach. You will be part of a busy workshop environment where teamwork, quality, and efficiency are highly valued.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Confirm reported vehicle issues, diagnose faults, and carry out necessary repairs
Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting across a range of vehicle systems
Carry out routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance to manufacturer standards
Complete vehicle health checks, including customer video presentations of vehicle condition
Advise on any future maintenance or repair work identified during inspections
Ensure jobs are completed within allocated timeframes to meet deadlines
Maintain accurate records of completed work where required
Keep work areas clean, safe, and organised at all times
Comply with health and safety standards and participate in ongoing training
Stay up to date with evolving vehicle technology through regular manufacturer training

Who You Are

We are looking for someone who is technically skilled, dependable, and enjoys working as part of a team.

You will ideally have:

At least three years’ experience working on light vehicles
Strong diagnostic and repair skills across a broad range of vehicle systems
A preference for working in a collaborative team environment
Excellent time management and the ability to manage time allowed for each job
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
A customer-focused mindset
The ability to thrive in a busy workshop environment
A full UK driving licence
