Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Manual Turner/Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for precise machining, assembly, and fitting of components using manual equipment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your mechanical knowledge and technical skills in a dynamic environment. The position involves working with various materials, and requires a keen eye for detail and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

Operate manual lathes, and other machining tools to produce high-precision components
Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication
Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to modify or repair parts according to specifications
Conduct basic measurements and calculations using mathematical skills to verify dimensions and tolerances
Assist with the setup and calibration of machinery
Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Collaborate with team members on projects involving mechanical assembly and component fitting

Qualifications

Proven experience in manual turning, milling, or fitting roles within a manufacturing environment
Proficiency in reading technical drawings
Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment
Familiarity with welding techniques and grinding processes is advantageous
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks
Knowledge of plastics injection moulding processes is desirable
Ability to work accurately under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and safety standards
Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or related fields are preferred but not essential
