Sous Chef – Rokers Farmhouse Café, Worplesdon, Guildford

We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at a busy independent café serving a vibrant brunch-led menu in a beautiful countryside setting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves creating great food, enjoys working as part of a close-knit team, and wants to play a key role in delivering exceptional food and service every day.

Hours of work: circa 7.45am - 4.30pm, 5 days per week (including Saturdays and Sundays; with two days off mid-week)

The Role

As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with our Head of Kitchen to help lead and inspire the kitchen team, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and service.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be actively involved in food preparation and service, leading by example during busy periods and supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchenwhilst ensuring a high level of cleanliness.

You'll assist with menu development, stock control, ordering, food preparation, and maintaining excellent food safety standards. You'll also help train and support junior team members, ensuring the kitchen remains organised, efficient and a positive place to work.

You'll also step up to lead the kitchen on the Head Chef's days off.

About You

You'll be an experienced, strong Chef de Partie or Sous Chef who:

Thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Has a genuine passion for fresh, seasonal food
Takes pride in delivering consistently high standards
Leads by example and enjoys supporting and developing others
Has a good understanding of food cost control and minimising waste
Is organised, reliable and able to work calmly under pressure
Has excellent knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards

The Farmhouse Café is part of Rokers, a family business established in 1962. Situated alongside our Animal Feed, Equestrian & Country Store in Guildford, we're proud to serve high-quality food in a welcoming environment. Our kitchen team is small, friendly and hardworking, with around four team members working each shift.
