Head Coach & Assistant Coach Vacancies
Little Stars Coaching Ltd & North London Stars (NLS)
Location: Highgate, North London
About Us
Little Stars Coaching Ltd and North London Stars (NLS) are a highly respected grassroots football club based in Highgate, North London. We are currently looking to recruit experienced and passionate individuals for the roles of Lead Coach and Assistant Coach across two key areas of our club: Little Stars (ages 3-6) and North London Stars (ages 7-13). Whether you're a seasoned professional or an emerging coach, we offer an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to player development.
Role Overview
Lead Coach
As a Lead Coach, you will be responsible for leading coaching sessions for a specific team or age group. You will combine your coaching duties with league matchdays and weekly training every Saturday morning. Additionally, Lead Coaches have the opportunity to expand their hours by working with our Little Stars age groups (ages 3-6). This is optional, but candidates interested in taking on both roles will be prioritised. There is also potential for additional midweek training sessions focused on individual player development, though these are not mandatory as we already have coaches in place.
Assistant Coach
As an Assistant Coach, you will bring energy and a desire to grow within the coaching profession. We have a strong track record of helping assistant coaches progress into lead roles within the club, with many of our former players (U16-U18) moving into coaching positions. If you're keen to develop and progress through coaching, this is a fantastic opportunity for you. No experience required for these roles, just the right mindset and willingness to develop.
Training & Match Schedule
- Saturdays: 9am to 12.30pm (Highgate, N10 3JN) – Prep starts at 8.15am (paid)
- Matches (every two weeks) could be after or instead of training, held at Regent's Park Playing Fields (NW1 4NU). Matches are always at this location so very easy to organise and commute to and from.
- Midweek (optional): 5pm to 7pm (sessions available almost every day around Highgate & Muswell Hill)
Compensation
Lead Coach
We offer a highly competitive hourly pay ranging from £15 to £30 per hour for lead coaches, determined on a case-by-case basis based on the value the individual brings to the team. Our compensation package also includes a bonus scheme, paid at the end of the season, rewarding coaches for their commitment and performance. We also provide support for coaching courses and offer paid attendance to special CPD events.
On a regular Saturday shift, coaches can accumulate up to 4.5 hours of paid work
Assistant Coach
£12.5 per hour with potential increase to £20 per hour for assistant coaches after the initial 3-month period. Normally, this increase is automatic but the club reserves the right to revoke this perk in cases where a coach is not showing the necessary levels of commitment, which include punctuality, attendance, etc. We also provide support for coaching courses and offer paid attendance to special CPD events.
Expectations
We expect our Head Coaches to be professional, communicative, and focused on player development, ensuring each player reaches their full potential. We are a grassroots football club and our role is to promote a positive experience within the sport. We want to win, but most importantly we want our players to progress and feel valued.
Selection Criteria (Lead Coaches)
Desirable:
- FA Level 2 or UEFA C certification
- First Aid and Child Safety certification (completed within the last 3 years)
- Experience working with various age groups at grassroots level or higher
Application Process
Applications close on 30th June 2026. However, we reserve the right to close the application process earlier should suitable candidates be found. All applications should include a football coaching CV (for Lead Coach roles), outlining your relevant coaching experience. Applications without a coaching CV will only be considered for Assistant Coach positions.
Following the application review, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a paid trial session. Sessions will be held on Saturdays, at the above mentioned time and venue. We can host up to 4 trialists per day Saturday.
Perks of Working with Little Stars & NLS FC
- Our coaching hours are guaranteed, meaning that even if a session is cancelled (e.g., waterlogged pitches), you will still be paid for your scheduled hours. Payments are made by bank transfer on the 6th of each month, with the possibility of early payment on occasion.
- Work under the guidance of our Head of Coaching, Diogo Nobre (UEFA A coach), who brings extensive UK and international coaching experience. Diogo’s support has been invaluable in developing our coaching team, offering continuous feedback and guidance on planning and delivery.
- Access to off-site professional development opportunities, including specific CPD events and academy visits - session observation - through our club owner (Fabio Carmo), who currently coaches at a Ligue 1 club as a lead coach (CAT3).
