Job Description

1. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team including health, social services to continue the development of support and advocacy for UASC (Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children).

2. Maintaining and developing strong links with social services case managers other support providers to establish mechanisms for consultation with individuals and groups , in order to ensure concerns are being addressed.

3. Play a part in maintaining a database of information held on UASC to ensure accurate record keeping and help us to adhere to codes and guidelines of confidentiality.

4. Maintaining the need for strict confidentiality and sensitivity in all areas of work.

5. Participating in all training as deemed relevant to the role.

6. Allocating caseloads to asylum staff to ensure all young people are supported and managing caseload numbers.

7. Ensuring compliance with Support Accommodation regulations in accordance with OFSTED requirements by following guidance and all times and directing training as needed for asylum staff.

8. Responding and dealing with all local authority enquiries by phone and email in a timely manner.

9. Responding and dealing with all lead management enquiries by phone and email in a timely manner.

10. Supervising and supporting all asylum staff in completion of their daily duties and delegating tasks out to the team.

11. Conducting both planned and spot check home visits with asylum staff to ensure safeguards and quality.

12. Recording all notes on people planner in relation to all contact with young people and other departments.

13. Carrying out managerial oversight tasks for all young people and recording these on people planner.

14. Carrying out regular 6-8 week supervisions with asylum staff and recording these on the supervision matrix and provided these to HR accordingly.

15. Keep abreast of transitional periods and advise relevant departments of the need to prepare for 18+ and 20 + year milestones.

16. Build and maintain positive, appropriate working relationships with the young people we support.

17. Identifying, sourcing and referring to health and social care providers.

18. Enabling access and referral to advice, support and counselling (where appropriate) for the victims of racial harassment and/or intimidation.

19. Identifying, sources and referral to additional training and education services .

20. Identifying financial difficulties and referral for advice and guidance

21. Identifying and referral to social and cultural support, where appropriate.

22. Accessing and referral to life skills programmes, particularly for those newly settling.

23. Provision and welfare rights information to service users ensuring they are in receipt of their entitlements acting as an advocate and assisting them in making plans and informed decisions.

24. Prepare and deliver reports as directed by the role.

25. Contribute to work related company activities & events as directed

26. To undertake such other duties as maybe required from time to time in relation to UASC.

27. Overseeing staff to ensure all people planner tasks are completed by them in a timely manner.

28. Monitoring Universal Credit account on a monthly basis and notifying Haifa and the young person’s pa of any change in circumstances / payment.

29. Dealing with all Safeguarding concerns, completing A8 safeguarding forms and signposting as needed, recording all information in paper form and once complete, uploading to safeguarding folder electronically.

30. Liaising with the accommodation team in relation to property issues as needed.

31. For those Over 18s who refuse to pay bills or universal credit housing benefit, informing the local authority, asking for notice to be served and linking with the staff to ensure the end of service provision is completed after 28 days-notice. Attend property with staff and one accommodation member after 28 days. If they refused to leave, dealing with locksmith/ police as required.

32. Case management and transitional support into independence, assisting with cases closures and ensuring clients understand their rights and responsibilities as tenants.

33. Handling office tasks, such as filing, keeping daily logs, generating reports presentations, and reordering supplies, setting up for meetings, booking appointments and preventing overlaps.

34. Using IT systems and applications to generate reports, transcribe minutes from meetings, create presentations and conduct research.

35. Legislation, e.g. subletting, benefits and welfare rights, immigration and asylum.

36. Assist with the compilation and collation of management and performance information by collating monthly, quarterly and yearly statistics in line with government and departmental guidelines in order to monitor performance. This consists of conducting regular case file audits.

37. Undertake all the duties within the framework of Equal Opportunities.

38. Cooperate in all matters relating to Health and Safety and implement all procedures for your job role and relay any risks within the working environment to management.

39. Represent Active 8 by attending relevant meetings and forums to improve networking with our valued partners and to expand our knowledge base within the housing field and find joint solutions to problems.

40. Ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with the Data Protection GDPR.

41. Remain accountable, transparent and consistent in carrying out aspects of the job to maintain longstanding professional relationships based on trust and accountability.

42. Ensuring we meet all compliance requirements relevant to the work we do and ensuring our properties comply with all health and safety compliances requirements as required by law.

43. Endorse any changes in relevant laws, compliance requirements, policy and procedures or general information pertaining to the handbook.

44. Maintaining all administrational aspects pertaining to types of tenancy agreements we give to the young people and families we work with.

45. Maintaining all administrational aspects pertaining to utility providers to include setting up and monitoring of accounts, liaising with our colleagues in finance and keeping photographic images of meters and properties internally and externally.

46. Supporting young people to apply for universal credit including housing benefits when they become eligible. Liaise with caseworker 3 weeks prior to young person turning 18.

47. Maintaining all administrational aspects pertaining to council tax and providing proof of eligibility and exemption to ensure they are on council tax benefit for when they are moving on from Active 8/ supported accommodation.

48. Attending young people’s final LAC review before they transition to services if required.

49. Attending strategy meetings and professional meetings ensuring these are conducted in a professional manner and input is provided.

50. Providing advice to colleagues in relation to specialist knowledge around asylum and benefits and all aspects of the role.

51. Signposting asylum caseworker administrators as needed in relation to supporting their young people and completing their people planner tasks.

52. Advising and working alongside the asylum champions as needed.

53. Compelling 6-monthly reports for Ofsted.

54. Completion of regular case audits and evidencing managerial oversight.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
