Job Introduction

Have you ever wanted to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable Children and Young People?

Our children’s home in Cheadle Hulme, provides a short break service supporting young people and their families to make sure those that we support have fun. We provide access to new activities and the ability to learn new skills while staying with us. We want our home to be "home from home" while in our care. The young people we support have a diagnosis of learning difficulties and/or autism associated conditions.

The Together Trust is one of the North West’s leading charities, offering individual care, support, and education to hundreds of children, young people, and adults each year. We are a not-for-profit charitable trust, so every penny goes back into benefiting the people that we support.

You will be working in a caring home environment, nurturing, and supporting the young people we work with helping them to overcome the issues they are facing. You will work with the team and the Registered Manager to give the support that these Children and Young People deserve to help make life better for them.

We are looking for a Night care worker who can complete the full range of tasks required.

This role will be carried out whilst working 10-hour night shifts allocated by the Manager or delegated person which includes weekends.

Working Hours - 30 Hours (shift timing of Start time 21:30 & End time 07:30)

Location - Central Cheadle Hulme

Contract - Permanent

Salary - £20,984.00 per year with an hourly rate of £13.45 per hour

Salary pro-rated from a full time equivalent of £26,230 based on working 37.5 hours.

Salary enhancement of time and a quarter for weekend shifts and during the week between 11pm and 6am.

About the Position...

The core tasks will include attending to the needs of children and young adults during the night, some of which have complex health conditions, domestic duties and appropriate record keeping in accordance with legislation and regulations.

You will also;

Assist in the planning, operations and assessment of the young person's need.
Maintain appropriate records on the child, young person and adult and ensure that information is passed onto other members of the team
Administer medication and simple medical procedures for the young people as appropriate and a willingness to undertake training if required
Take responsibility for the security and maintenance of the house/unit during the night, including housekeeping duties as required and utilising the sleep - in member of staff or on-call manager as required

About you...

Do you have the skills we are looking for.

Good Communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
Some previous experience of working in a children’s residential setting along with flexibility to respond to the needs of the home.
Am ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
You must have a good understanding of English and IT skills and be happy to complete all the paperwork and care plans to a good quality. Which includes daily recording on IT systems (Clearcare) and other records such as incident reports.
An enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person with a level of maturity, skills and interests which can be utilised to engage the young people.

This service is regulated by Ofsted therefore all employees must be over the age of 22 years at the time of joining the service.

Safeguarding checks will be undertaken for the successful candidate in line with our safer recruitment policy, including an Enhanced DBS check (at no cost to yourself).

This role will involve regulated activity.
