Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, functional, and visually appealing. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, applying a range of horticultural and maintenance skills to various projects. The position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and requires a proactive approach to landscape upkeep.

Responsibilities

Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and weeding to uphold the aesthetic quality of outdoor areas
Operate and maintain mechanical equipment such as excavators, power tools, and irrigation systems with safety and efficiency
Use hand tools for planting, trimming, digging, and other gardening activities
Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify areas needing repair or improvement
Maintain equipment through regular servicing and cleaning to ensure optimal performance
Implement horticultural practices to promote healthy growth of plants and lawns
Support the team in maintaining safety standards across all grounds activities

Qualifications

Proven experience in landscape maintenance or groundskeeping roles
Mechanical knowledge related to operating and maintaining equipment such as excavators and power tools
Familiarity with gardening techniques, and horticultural principles
Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively
Knowledge of maintenance work is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
Physical fitness to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions
Previous experience working on gardening projects is desirable
