Salary: £63,903.82 per annum (not pro rata)

Belmont School is seeking an exceptional Head of Primary to lead our Primary provision, champion Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP), and inspire a committed team of professionals dedicated to transforming young lives.

About Belmont School (Primary)
Belmont School's Primary provision offers specialist education for pupils aged 5–11 with social, emotional and mental health needs. We provide a nurturing, structured and highly supportive environment where children can develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.
Our approach combines high-quality teaching, therapeutic support and strong relationships to ensure every child is able to achieve their potential academically, socially and emotionally. Through small class sizes, personalised learning pathways and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, we help pupils overcome barriers and experience success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the Primary provision, ensuring a safe, nurturing and highly effective learning environment.
- Serve as a member of the school Executive Team, contributing to strategic planning, school improvement and whole-school decision-making.
- Lead, manage and develop teaching and support staff, fostering professional growth and embedding Trauma-Informed Practice throughout the Primary provision.
- Coordinate Primary Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and INSET programmes in consultation with the Headteacher.
- Conduct staff appraisals and support colleagues in achieving their professional development goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning, behaviour and wellbeing, ensuring high standards are maintained.
- Lead on curriculum implementation and assessment within the Primary provision, ensuring learning meets the needs of all pupils.
- Act as the school's Induction Lead for ISTIP within the Primary provision, ensuring new staff are effectively welcomed, supported and developed.
- Oversee daily operational management, including staffing and pupil support arrangements.
- Attend Executive Team, staffing and pupil multidisciplinary meetings, contributing to holistic decision-making and personalised planning.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers, promoting collaborative approaches that support pupil wellbeing and progress.
- Lead on any pupil suspensions and reintegration processes, ensuring all decisions are fair, consistent and rooted in therapeutic principles.
- Provide guidance and oversight of interventions, ensuring support strategies remain effective and trauma-informed.
- Actively contribute to the pupil multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and personalised support for every child.
- Lead daily staff briefings, promoting clear communication, consistency and a shared commitment to Belmont's values and approach.
