Fabrication Lead – Full Time
Location: Potters Bar
Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:00am–4:00pm, Friday 7:00am–1:00pm
Salary: £17–£18 per hour, depending on experience

Due to the continued growth of our business, we are looking for an experienced Fabrication Lead to join our team at our new premises in Potters Bar.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced fabricator who can take ownership of the day-to-day fabrication work within the workshop, while providing guidance and support to the wider fabrication team. You will work closely with the Branch Coordinator and play an important role in ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to the high standard expected by T Nevill.
The Role
As Fabrication Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day fabrication activities within the workshop. You will remain hands-on with fabrication and welding while helping to organise workloads, solve technical problems and ensure work is completed correctly and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Fabrication Team – provide day-to-day guidance and practical support to fabricators within the workshop
- Plan & Prioritise Work – help organise fabrication activities and ensure jobs are progressing efficiently
- Sheet Metal Fabrication – cutting, forming and assembling sheet metal components and bespoke assemblies
- Metal Preparation – accurately measuring, marking out and cutting a range of materials
- Presswork & Forming – operating guillotines, press brakes, fly presses and other workshop machinery
- TIG Welding – carrying out high-quality TIG welding across a range of materials
- Assembly Work – producing components and assemblies accurately to customer specifications
- Drawing Interpretation – confidently reading and working from engineering and CAD drawings
- Quality Control – checking work throughout the fabrication process and ensuring finished products meet the required standards
- Problem Solving – identifying technical or fabrication issues and finding practical solutions
- Supporting the Branch Coordinator – communicating job progress, requirements, issues and any potential delays
- Training & Support – helping less experienced team members develop their fabrication skills and understand required standards
- Finishing Operations – carrying out grinding, sanding and other preparation work where required
- Workshop Standards – maintaining high standards of housekeeping, organisation, tool care and health & safety
- Continuous Improvement – identifying opportunities to improve workshop processes, efficiency and quality
Requirements
- 2–5+ years' experience in sheet metal fabrication or a similar metalworking environment
- Strong practical fabrication skills and the ability to work confidently without constant supervision
- Good TIG welding experience
- Experience using sheet metal machinery, including guillotines, brake presses and fly presses
- Ability to read and accurately work from technical and CAD drawings
- Good understanding of fabrication processes, materials and workshop practices
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Ability to lead by example and support other members of the workshop team
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to challenges
- Reliable, organised and able to take ownership of work
- Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Engineering, Fabrication or a similar qualification
- Previous experience in a lead, senior or supervisory fabrication role
- Experience working within a bespoke or low-volume fabrication environment
- Experience working with mills and lathes
- Experience working with a variety of metals and finishes
Pay: £35,360.00-£37,440.00 per year
