Full job description

Hi, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to get into the food and baking industry, especially a chance to join a company that is just starting up. This is a bakery with a full time site now at the Shambles Market selling hot & cold sandwiches. At the moment we focus on producing freshly baked slow-fermented bagels each day. The sandwiches will be a mix of the classics, smoked salmon and cream cheeses etc and introducing sandwiches using local ingredients as well as cured meats and pickled foods.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a chef to join Aaron, Jess, Bibi & I down at The Shambles Market with the potential to get into the baking side as well. To begin with it will be mainly taking customer orders, taking payments and conversing with customers. This will hopefully move onto prep work and preparing the sandwiches after a month. Then once comfortable we can start talking about being one of the managers on site or getting into the baking side of things. Management duties will include talking with suppliers and making orders each week, food health and safety documents and generally looking after the day to day running of the stall. The bakery is situated in Tang Hall and the idea with this is to branch out a bit and do other breads and sweet treats from here as well as the bagels for the market.

Duties:
- Taking customer orders

- Prep work

- Making and preparing sandwiches

- Ordering with suppliers

- Organising the day-to-day operations

Skills:

- Good customer service

- Good organisational skills

Experience:

- The ideal person will definitely have at least a years experience in customer service facing jobs and more importantly also be interested in the industry and wanting to learn more about it and want to be involved in the day-to-day running of the business.

- If you have food safety certificates this would be a plus but again not necessary to start

All in all just looking for someone who is interested in the food industry and interested in joining a small company that can hopefully offer a variety of positions in the future to fit your skills and what you want to do in life.

We can offer £13/hr with an initial 2 month period to see if its a fit for both of us. Once you start running the day-to-day of the stall we can increase this to £13.50/hr and after 6 months we can start to introduce a +% of sales element. The shifts will be Wednesday-Sunday. Between 8-5 but likely a split shift each day.
