Full job description

Overview

Lead and carry out Senior Care Assistant Key Worker responsibilities, ensuring you provide consistent oversight for residents and act as a primary point of contact for families and professionals. You will also support, guide, and supervise the care team to ensure high-quality, person-centred care is delivered at all times. This role also includes assisting residents with personal care and the activities of daily living, such as washing, dressing, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and continence care. The role also involves supporting household tasks including laundry, meal support, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment. Senior Care Assistants are responsible for encouraging and promoting residents’ dignity, wellbeing, safety, and independence at all times, offering companionship, emotional support, and meaningful engagement. All care must be delivered in a respectful, compassionate, and professional manner, consistent with best practice and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional personal care to residents, assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.
Supervise and support junior care staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure consistent, high standards of care.
Develop and review individualized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
Maintain clear communication with residents and team members to ensure seamless delivery of care and address any concerns promptly.
Use IT systems efficiently to document care activities, update records, and monitor resident progress.
Assist with transportation needs by driving residents safely to appointments or outings when required.
Promote a positive environment that encourages independence, dignity, and respect for all residents.

Experience

Lead the care team and promote high standards of care ensuring person-centred care is
delivered in line with each resident’s care plan and risk assessments, ensuring dignity, choice,
independence, and control are promoted at all times.
Administer medication to residents safely and accurately, in line with the home’s medication
policies, MAR chart requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
Support residents with personal care such as dressing and undressing, bathing, and toileting.
Make and change beds; tidy rooms and do light cleaning to ensure the home is maintained
Support residents with nutrition, hydration, mobility,
Facilitate and participate in stimulating and meaningful daily activities, both in group
sessions and on a one-to-one basis.
Encourage residents to engage in their hobbies and provide appropriate support to help
them participate.
Model respectful and dignified interactions with residents, families, and staff
Proactively gather and record feedback on the care and services provided, using this
information to support continuous improvement across the home.
Respond promptly to emergency call bells, assess the situation and deal with the resident
seeking help from seniors when required.
Carry out observations for residents, as required, to monitor their wellbeing and identify any
signs of deteriorating health.
Complete weekly audits as required, ensuring accurate recording, timely follow-up of
actions, and clear communication of any concerns to the management team.Help in the care
and use of aids and personal equipment
Lead handovers ensuring clear communication of resident needs, risks, updates, and
priorities to the incoming team and report concerns to management.
Accompany residents on outings or to appointments as required
Carry out regular safety checks around the home
Ensure infection prevention and control standards are consistently maintained throughout
the home to minimise the risk of cross-contamination.
Recognise and report safeguarding concerns in line with policies and always work to protect
our residents from neglect and abuse
Communicate effectively with residents, families, multidisciplinary teams and colleagues and
build trusting, positive relationships.
Carry out Key Worker responsibilities, ensuring you maintain regular contact with your
allocated residents, oversee their care plans, and act as a consistent point of support for
them and their families.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential care records
Contribute to care reviews and handovers
Report accidents, incidents, and concerns using correct procedures and support care staff to
ensure they are actively recording accurately.
Follow health & safety policies and procedures
Attend mandatory training and updates
Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality requirements
Work collaboratively as part of the care team
Supervise, mentor, and support junior care staff during shifts
Allocate tasks and prioritise care delivery
Contribute to staff inductions, on-the-job coaching, and training support
Escalate concerns to Deputy Manager or Registered Manager as required
Maintain professional boundaries and conduct
Respect residents individual life history, preferences, and cultural needs and uphold
residents’ rights and promote equality and inclusion

Pay: £13.50 per hour
