Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation, cooking, and hospitality to develop their skills within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will support senior chefs in preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen. Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is preferred, but a strong enthusiasm for culinary arts and a willingness to learn are essential. This position is paid and ideal for those looking to advance their career in hospitality and food service.

Responsibilities

Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior chefs
Support the team in maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene
Prepare ingredients and components for various dishes in line with recipes and specifications
Help with plating and presentation of dishes to meet quality standards
Ensure cleanliness and organisation of workstations throughout shifts
Follow all health and safety regulations diligently
Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with colleagues
Support in supervising junior staff or trainees when required, demonstrating leadership qualities

Requirements

Proven experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or hospitality setting is desirable
Strong knowledge of food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
Experience in supervising or managing team members is advantageous
Good understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
A proactive attitude with a passion for culinary arts and hospitality
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
Relevant culinary qualifications or training will be considered an asset but are not mandatory
