Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Bakery Manager to oversee operations within our bustling bakery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing food production, ensuring high standards of food safety, and leading a team of bakers. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in bread baking and food preparation, to contribute to a vibrant bakery environment. The Bakery Manager will play a key role in maintaining product quality, managing inventory, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
We supply baked goods to surrounding farm shops and our own two shops, you will be expected to work with breads, cakes and confectionery.
The working hours will be based on a 45 hour week, with 28 days holiday (including bank holidays). This is a flexible role, the shift will normally start at 9pm. We can be flexible on the start time if needed and could move this forward to 6pm if this would suit a potential candidate better. This is night time position and will include rotational weekend work.
Experience
- Proven experience in a bakery essential.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in a kitchen setting.
- Previous experience in baking or food production is highly advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- A passion for baking and creativity in developing new recipes is desirable.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the bakery, including food production and preparation processes.
- Lead and motivate the bakery team to achieve high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Develop and implement baking schedules to meet customer demand while maintaining freshness.
- Ensure all food safety regulations and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to across all bakery activities.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control stock to minimise waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
- Monitor product quality, taste, presentation, and consistency to uphold brand standards.
- Train staff on new recipes, techniques, and safety procedures as required.
- Handle customer feedback professionally to enhance service quality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production, food preparation, cooking or bakery management.
- Strong background in culinary arts with specialised knowledge in baking techniques.
- Experience working within a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations is essential.
- Previous leadership or managerial experience in a hospitality or bakery setting is preferred.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
