Job title: Deputy Manager
Service: Ofsted Regulated Residential Children’s Home, Regulated for the care of EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) and / or LD (Learning Disability) children – 3 bedroomed children’s home.
Salary:
£43,120 – £46,880 per annum (including sleep-ins)
Basic Salary: £36,400 - £38,480 per annum (based on 40 hours per week, dependent on experience and progression)
Sleep-in Payments:
£70 per sleep (8-hour sleep-in)
Total Estimated Earnings:
£43,120 – £46,880 per annum, depending on experience and number of sleep-ins worked
Hours: 40 hours per week (minimum), initially worked on a rota basis including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
As the home develops, the role will become more office-based, with ongoing flexibility to support the rota as required.
Annual leave: 30 days + Birthday paid off
Anticipated Start Date: 27th July 2026

The role: As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day to day running of the home, while also playing a key role in leading the team and maintaining high standards of care.
This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same, combining hands-on care, leadership, and oversight responsibilities.
One day you could be:
- Leading a shift and supporting the team
- Supporting staff with complex or challenging situations
- Reviewing incidents and identifying patterns or learning
- Contributing to care planning and risk management
- Supporting with audits and quality assurance processes
- Working alongside external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children
You will:
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall management of the home
- Lead, motivate, and develop the staff team
- Promote high standards of care and practice across the home
- Oversee and review care plans, risk assessments, and records
- Monitor incidents and identify trends to improve practice
- Ensure safeguarding practices are consistently followed
- Contribute to audits, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Step into the Registered Manager role in their absence

Essential Requirements:
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
- Applicants must be aged 21 or over

- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards)
- At least 2 years experience working within a residential children’s home
- Experience supporting or leading shifts within a team
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties
