Job Overview
The Estate Caretaker is responsible for maintaining the external areas of Elephant Central and Castle Square to a high standard, ensuring the estate remains clean, safe, presentable and welcoming for residents, visitors and commercial occupiers.

The role will take ownership of the day-to-day appearance of the estate, carrying out cleaning duties, estate inspections, minor maintenance support, waste management assistance and health & safety monitoring across all external areas.

Responsibilities

Estate Cleaning & Presentation
Carry out daily litter picking across the estate.

Estate Inspections

Carry out routine inspections of the estate.
Identify defects, damage and maintenance issues.
Report issues through the agreed reporting process.
Monitor the condition of external infrastructure and public realm areas.
Report health and safety concerns immediately.

Grounds & Landscaping Support

Water planters and landscaped areas when required.
Assist landscaping contractors as required.
Remove weeds from hard landscaped areas.
Report damaged planting, landscaping defects.

Waste Management Support

Assist with waste movements and bin rotations when required.
Support waste operatives during peak periods.
Report contamination, overflowing bins and waste management issues.
Assist with the management of bulk waste and fly tipping.

Winter & Adverse Weather Response

Assist with gritting operations during icy conditions.
Support snow clearance activities where required.
Assist with flood response and drainage issues.
Deploy warning signage and barriers when required.

Health & Safety

Carry out duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Use cleaning equipment, machinery and chemicals safely.
Comply with COSHH requirements.
Wear appropriate PPE at all times. (Supplied by the company)
Report accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards.

Customer Service

Provide a visible presence across the estate.
Assist residents, occupiers and visitors where appropriate.
Work closely with Security, Maintenance, Concierge and Waste teams.
Promote a positive image of Elephant Central at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

Previous experience in cleaning, caretaking, estate services or a similar role.
Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Good communication skills.
Physically capable of undertaking manual duties and outdoor working.

Desirable

Experience within a residential or mixed-use estate.
Experience operating jet washing equipment.
Manual handling training.
COSHH awareness.
Basic maintenance knowledge.

Terms

Monday to Friday.
40 hours per week.
£27,000 per annum.
Uniform and PPE provided.
Annual leave and benefits in line with company policy
Sweep external walkways, roads, pathways and public realm areas.
Empty external litter bins and replace liners.
Remove graffiti, stickers and illegal fly-posting where possible.
Ride on scrubber dryers
Clean external furniture, bollards, handrails, signage and estate features.
Jet wash paved areas and external surfaces as required.
Maintain external bin stores and waste compounds.
Ensure all external areas remain clean, tidy and presentable.

Pay: £27,000.00 per year
