Full job description

We're a fast-growing commercial business based near Doncaster Airport, currently around 12 people and scaling fast. We work at pace, we're investing heavily in technology and automation, and we're looking for a Head of Finance to come in and own the finance function completely.

This is a hands-on ownership role — not a team management position. You'll be the lead internal finance person, supported by external accountants for higher-level technical work, but everything operational is yours to run and improve.

What you'll be doing

Day-to-day finance operations — reconciliations, payments, invoicing, expenses, refunds and adjustments
Weekly cashflow updates and monthly management reports
Month-end support and liaison with external accountants
Managing recurring costs, subscriptions, insurance and renewals
Building better systems, controls and reporting as the business grows
Introducing dashboards and automation to give leadership clearer financial visibility
Working closely with senior leadership — you'll be in the room, not in the background

What we're looking for

Proven experience owning a finance function in a small or growing business
Highly organised, accurate and reliable
Confident with Xero or similar
Strong on cashflow, reconciliations, payments and reporting
Self-sufficient — you don't need hand-holding
Genuinely curious about automation and smarter ways of working
Commercially aware, calm under pressure, and not afraid to flag issues early
