Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee our organisation’s vehicle operations and logistics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the fleet, ensuring efficient utilisation, compliance with safety regulations, and optimisation of transportation processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our supply chain and logistics functions, supporting overall business growth. The position involves working with various management systems and maintaining clear communication across teams to ensure operational excellence.

Duties

Oversee the daily management of the fleet, including scheduling maintenance and repairs to minimise downtime.
Utilise transportation management systems (TMS) and SyteLine to track vehicle utilisation, routes, and performance metrics.
Coordinate shipping & receiving activities, ensuring timely delivery and collection of goods in compliance with organisational standards.
Analyse data related to fleet operations, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimise supply chain operations.
Maintain accurate data entry within systems such as AS400 and other logistics software platforms.
Monitor driver compliance with safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular audits as necessary.
Prepare reports on fleet performance, utilisation rates, and operational costs for senior management review.
Communicate effectively with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams via phone etiquette and professional correspondence.
Ensure all shipping & receiving documentation is accurate and up-to-date, supporting smooth logistical workflows.

Skills

Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), AS400, and SyteLine software platforms.
Strong understanding of supply chain processes, logistics principles, and 3PL operations.
Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for operational improvements.
Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally via phone or written correspondence.
Adept at data entry with high accuracy in maintaining records within various organisational systems.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in shipping & receiving procedures along with knowledge of vehicle maintenance scheduling.
Strong typing skills for efficient documentation and reporting purposes.
