Full job description

Are you passionate about developing the next generation of skilled construction professionals? Do you have strong industry experience in groundworks, including construction equipment, machinery, and a desire to share your expertise through high-quality teaching and training?

At CITB, we’re committed to shaping a competent, safe and future‑ready construction workforce. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Instructor in Groundworks to join our dedicated curriculum team and help inspire learners to excel in their careers.

Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 8am – 4:30pm, and Fridays 8am – 11am

Contract: Permanent

Grade: SC3

Target Salary: £47,973 per annum

Location: National Construction College East, Bircham Newton, Norfolk, PE31 6RH

What you’ll be doing:

Plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons aligned to industry practices and organisational teaching strategies
Develop high-quality, inclusive teaching and assessment resources
Provide individualised support based on initial assessments and prior learning
Offer regular, constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement
Monitor and track progress using a Learner Management System
Support learners to develop their English, maths, digital and employability skills
Work collaboratively with Apprenticeship Development Coaches and contribute to learner reviews
Identify learners at risk and implement effective intervention strategies
Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment, adhering to safeguarding and health & safety policies
Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry professionals and stakeholders
Stay up to date with developments in both construction and teaching methodologies

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

Minimum of Level 2 vocational qualification directly related to the role applied for
Relevant industry experience in the construction industry in a related role
Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
Minimum of Level 3 teaching qualification (or commitment to achieve within one year of commencing role)
Assessor Awards (or commitment to achieve within one year of commencing)
Evidence of continuous professional development
Excellent verbal and written skills
Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths or demonstrate proficiency at Level 2 or above through a recognised assessment in both subjects
Excellent organisational skills
Knowledge, skills, and experience in Microsoft Office 365

Desirable

Minimum of Level 3 vocational qualification directly related to the role applied for
Higher level construction related qualification
Level 5 teaching qualification
Experience of apprenticeship delivery
