The Opportunity

We are looking for an organised and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Assistant to join our team in Shepshed.

Working closely with our HSE Manager, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to help ensure the business maintains a safe, compliant and environmentally responsible workplace. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in Health, Safety and Environmental Management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role is based on site in Shepshed, Leicestershire, five days per week.

What You'll Be Doing

Providing day-to-day administrative support to the HSE Manager.
Assisting with Health and Safety monitoring activities across the business.
Supporting Health and Safety audits, preparing audit reports and following up on actions.
Assisting with the management of fire safety and first aid arrangements.
Supporting the preparation and review of risk assessments and other HSE documentation.
Coordinating Health and Safety training and maintaining accurate records.
Helping to promote a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture throughout the business.
Maintaining Health and Safety notice boards, signage and compliance documentation.
Providing administrative support for Health and Safety Committee meetings.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to support compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and company procedures.
Contributing ideas to support continuous improvement across Health, Safety and Environmental performance.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

Previous administrative or business support experience.
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to manage changing priorities in a busy environment.
A proactive, positive approach with a willingness to learn.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The following would be advantageous, but are not essential:

Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental support role.
Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
Knowledge of audits, risk assessments or compliance activities.
