Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations across four residential care homes within the East Riding area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all properties, equipment, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, compliant, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
The role involves managing maintenance activities across multiple sites, leading a maintenance team, coordinating contractors where required, and implementing effective preventative maintenance programmes. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent organisational skills to optimise building performance, minimise downtime, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. The Maintenance Manager will work closely with Home Managers and the senior management team to prioritise maintenance needs and deliver high-quality services across all four care homes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team, providing clear direction, support, and performance management.
- Manage all maintenance operations across four care homes located within the East Riding area.
- Develop and implement comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes, including routine inspections and servicing schedules.
- Oversee the installation, repair, and servicing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating, and general building systems.
- Ensure all buildings, grounds, plant, and equipment are maintained in a safe and operational condition.
- Utilise project management skills to plan maintenance activities, minimise disruption to residents and daily operations, and manage resources effectively.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and control system diagrams, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults promptly to minimise downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, fire safety regulations, Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, and statutory maintenance requirements.
- Arrange and oversee external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, to a high standard, and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, statutory testing, parts inventories, servicing schedules, and equipment history.
- Coordinate maintenance works with Home Managers to ensure minimal disruption to residents and care delivery.
- Manage maintenance budgets and monitor expenditure to achieve cost-effective operations.
- Carry out regular audits of each home to identify maintenance requirements and prioritise remedial works.
- Participate in the on-call rota where required to respond to emergency maintenance issues.
- Stay up to date with technological advancements and best practices in maintenance management, implementing improvements where appropriate.
Experience and Skills
- Proven management experience within a maintenance, facilities, or engineering environment.
- Experience managing maintenance across multiple sites is highly desirable.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and oversee multiple maintenance projects simultaneously.
- Extensive knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Demonstrable leadership skills with experience supervising maintenance technicians or engineers.
- Excellent mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
- Previous experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance strategies.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, fire safety requirements, and statutory compliance within care homes or similar regulated environments is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between the four care homes within the East Riding area.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English is required for effective communication and accurate documentation.

Pay: £18.00-£19.00 per hour
