Maintenance Support Operative –Westwood Lodge

Location: Westwood Lodge Care Home, Newcastle
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Reporting to: Home Manager and Head of Estates / Maintenance Lead

Join the Caring & Leading Team

Caring & Leading is a growing, family-owned care home group dedicated to providing exceptional care and creating outstanding environments for our residents. We are looking for a reliable, skilled and motivated Maintenance Support Operative to join our Westwood Lodge team and support our homes with planned and reactive maintenance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and wants to make a real difference to the lives of older people.

About the Role

You will work across at Westwood Lodge Care Home, supporting our manager and our Head of Estates in ensuring that our homes remain safe, compliant, welcoming and well-maintained for residents, visitors and staff.

The role will involve a mixture of:

General repairs and maintenance
Painting and decorating
Basic plumbing and joinery tasks
Furniture assembly and repairs
Garden and outdoor maintenance
Health & safety checks
Supporting refurbishment projects
Assisting with compliance and maintenance documentation
Responding to urgent maintenance issues when required
Supporting the wider estates team with improvement projects

No two days will be the same, and you will play a key role in maintaining high-quality living environments across our homes.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who:

Has previous maintenance, handyman, facilities or estates experience
Has practical skills across a range of trades
Takes pride in their work and attention to detail
Can work independently and manage their own workload
Has excellent problem-solving skills
Is reliable, flexible and professional
Holds a full UK driving licence
Shares our values and commitment to providing outstanding environments for residents

Experience within care homes, healthcare, hospitality or residential environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
