Thornemere Group | Guildford, office-based | £25,000 - £35,000 + benefits | Full-time, permanent
About us
Thornemere is a growing UK pest control and field-services group. We run four customer-facing brands — Thornemere (commercial pest control), Beegone (residential and bee removal), PGH Pest Control, and Sewerfix — and we're investing heavily in our digital and marketing function as we scale. Behind the scenes, we use modern tooling (Pipedrive CRM, BigChange field-service ops, Xero, n8n, our own internal AI stack) to run a tight, data-driven operation. We're a small team where what you ship matters more than where you sat last year.
The role
We're hiring our first dedicated Marketing & Digital Coordinator. You'll own our online presence end-to-end across all four brands — content, SEO, the websites themselves, and the day-to-day marketing execution that drives leads. This is a hire we couldn't have made five years ago. AI tools have changed what one focused person can credibly deliver, and we've designed this role around that — you'll be expected to use Claude, ChatGPT, and similar as your default working tools, with the leverage they give you built into the scope. You'll report directly to the founder. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role from day one — we don't have capacity to manage you task-by-task, and we don't want to. We want someone who runs themselves.
What you'll do
· Content and copy
· Write blog posts, service pages, case studies, customer emails, and social content across all four brands
· Turn the photos and stories our field teams capture daily into publishable content
· British English that sounds like a real person, not generic AI output SEO
· Own technical, on-page, and local SEO across the four sites
· Google Business Profile management, service-area pages, schema, internal linking
· Track and report on rankings, organic traffic, and conversions month-on-month Site management and light build
· Keep the four websites updated, fast, and consistent with our brand
· Ship improvements yourself — copy changes, layout tweaks, new pages, content updates — using a mix of CMS tools (WordPress, Astro) and AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor)
· You don't need a CS degree. You do need to be comfortable getting your hands dirty in a CMS and using AI to do things you couldn't do unaided. Marketing execution
· Run social, email lifecycle campaigns, and customer review programmes
· Light paid media where it earns its keep
· Surface what's working and what isn't with real numbers
What we're looking for
Essential
· 0-3 years of marketing, content, or digital experience — or a recent grad with a strong portfolio of real shipped work (side projects, freelance, uni publications, your own blog, agency placement — anything real counts)
· Demonstrably AI-native. You use Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools every working day and can show specific examples of workflows you've compressed with them. "I've tried ChatGPT" is not the same thing.
· Strong written English with a clear voice of your own
· Have built or managed at least one website yourself — even a personal one. WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Astro, anything.
· Have done SEO on something you cared about and can talk through real numbers — your own blog traffic, a freelance client, anything where you owned the outcome
High agency. You spot what needs doing and ship it. You don't wait to be briefed for every task.
· Self-sufficient on new tools. You'd rather watch a YouTube tutorial or ask Claude than queue up a question for the founder.
Nice to have
· Background in trades, services, or a small UK SME (not pure SaaS or corporate)
· Experience with Google Analytics 4 and Search Console bullet Familiarity with Pipedrive or another CRM
· Comfortable reading code even if you don't write it from scratch
· Some paid media experience (Google Ads, Meta) — small budgets, real outcomes
Not required
· A specific degree, or any degree at all bullet Agency experience — we actually slightly prefer non-agency, because we want people who've owned outcomes, not executed against briefs
What we offer
· £25,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
· Full-time, permanent
· Office-based at our Guildford office — you'll be working alongside the wider team day-to-day
· 28 days holiday inc bank holidays increasing to 33
· Pension
· A real seat at the table — you'll own marketing as a function, not be one of ten cogs in a marketing department
· Genuine career growth as the group grows. The right person could grow into Head of Marketing inside two years.
· A founder who'll back you to ship and won't micromanage
How to apply Send us:
· Your CV — one page is fine
· A short cover note — three paragraphs maximum. Tell us: (a) what's a workflow you've compressed using AI, with specifics; (b) one example of marketing or content work you've shipped where you can talk about the outcome in numbers; (c) why this role over a more conventional marketing job
· A 1-minute video — talking to camera about why you're interested in this role specifically. Don't over-produce it — phone camera is fine. We're looking for clarity of thought and genuine interest, not slick editing.
· Links to anything you've shipped — your own site, a side project, a blog, freelance work, social handles you run
Process:
· CV and cover screen
· 30-minute first call
· Paid trial task (£200 - £300, half-day) — a real piece of work auditing one of our sites and shipping one improvement. This is the main filter for the role.
· Final working session with the founder
· Offer
