Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of our premises on a Saturday. The ideal candidate will have experience in cleaning and janitorial duties, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors and hirers alike. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who take pride in their work and enjoy maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation. The Caretaker will play a vital part in supporting the smooth operation of our facilities through setting up for hirers and ensuring bookings go smoothly.

Duties

Perform cleaning tasks across various areas, including offices, communal spaces, and specialised facilities, adhering to health and safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness of floors, windows, restrooms, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and products.
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance issues or hazards and report them promptly for resolution.
Manage waste disposal efficiently, ensuring bins are emptied regularly and areas remain tidy.
Assist with minor repairs or liaise with external contractors for more complex maintenance work.
Follow health and safety protocols diligently to create a secure environment for all building users.
Support organisational efforts by setting up rooms for meetings or events as required.
This position will be a set 10 hour shift on Saturdays - with opportunities for cover during the week for sickness/holidays.

Qualifications

Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles is highly desirable but not essential.
Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Good physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance activities is an advantage but not essential as there will be training available.
Reliable with a strong work ethic and punctuality.
Previous experience in facility maintenance or basic repair skills is a plus but not essential.

Pay: £12.85 per hour
