Job title: Activities Coordinator

Location: Based in Newtown, with weekly travel to Welshpool

Reporting to: Service Delivery Manager

Hours: 14 hours/week (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Salary: £25,112.50 (FTE) / hourly rate £13.80

Fixed Term position until 31/3/2027 (with the possibility of extension – funding dependant)

About Rekindle

Rekindle is the only charity in Mid Wales that solely specialises in preventative and early intervention mental health support for 16 to 25 year olds. We aim to transform the lives of young adults, many of whom have been failed by existing services, by providing tailored, person-centred and holistic support to those who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, poor mental health.

Rekindle aims challenge the stigma associated with mental health, and get young people talking. We believe in person-centred care: through the use of the Recovery Model, we support young people in the way they wish to be supported. We aim empower them to take control over their lives, build resilience, set their own goals, become part of the wider community, and live the life they want to live. We help them to do this through our offering of services which together provide wraparound, open-ended support for young people. Young people can access 1-2-1 counselling/psychotherapy and practical support, and then continue their recovery journey by joining groups and activities, and having a say in the running of the charity.

Role Overview

The role of Activities Coordinator involves leading, coordinating and delivering a range of group activities to young people aged 16-25. This role is for 14 hours/week which will generally take place within normal working hours but there may be occasions where you’ll be required to work in the evening or at weekends. You will join a small professional team made up of management, clinical and administrative staff. The role may have capacity to grow to more hours, based on demand and funding.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the two weekly hubs (one in Welshpool and one in Newtown) which incorporate structured activities (e.g. craft, games, cooking, etc) and outings, and an informal drop-in where young people can use our space and have instant access to support and advice
Planning, developing and delivering a wide range of group activities to support the emotional development and wellbeing of young people
Working collaboratively with others involved in the delivery of group activities (staff, volunteers, external organisations)
Maintaining accurate record keeping
Promotion of the group activities including the creation and distribution of digital and printed promotional materials, attending events, networking with external organisations, etc.
Managing a budget including recording and storage of financial information
Providing supervisory support to Activities Volunteers
Liaising with external agencies to refer and signpost our clients when needed
Undertaking regular reviews of the activities service
Working effectively within professional boundaries, demonstrating ethical practice and adhering to Rekindle’s policies and procedures
Undertaking regular training and managerial supervision
Treating every individual receiving support with respect and dignity, value diversity and promote equal opportunities.
Actively promoting Rekindle’s values
Promoting the work of the organisation in a positive manner
Working within in the Safeguarding Team to promote the welfare of our young people
Supporting the Service Delivery Manager with sourcing funding for activities provision
Other appropriate duties as required by the Service Delivery Manager

Skills and Experience:

Essential

Certificate in Youthwork Practice Level 3 (or in the process of completing this)
Experience of working in the mental health sector and/or working with young people
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening
The ability to plan, coordinate and deliver a schedule of engaging, varied and fun group activities
Experience of facilitating group activities or support groups

Desirable

A qualification in a therapeutic subject e.g. counselling, psychotherapy, nursing, psychology or health and social care
Be able to work in a person-centred and holistic manner
Experience of using Office 365 and digital case management systems
Welsh speaking, or be willing to learn
Knowledge of safeguarding issues
