Kitchen Assistant – Nightingale Court Care Home

Location: Nightingale Court Care Home, Kidderminster
Job Type: Part-Time / Permanent - 33 Hours per week
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are looking for a reliable, caring, and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support our catering team in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team and takes pride in helping provide an excellent dining experience for older people.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely with the Chef and wider care home team to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen. You will assist with food preparation, cleaning duties, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

No previous care home experience is required, although a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to delivering excellent service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Chef with basic food preparation and meal service.
Prepare dining areas and support with the serving of meals and refreshments.
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, dining areas, and food storage spaces.
Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
Ensure food is stored correctly and stock rotated appropriately.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
Support the catering team in meeting residents' dietary needs and preferences.
Help maintain accurate cleaning schedules and kitchen records.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a positive dining experience for residents.

Essential:

Understanding of the importance of cleanliness and food safety.
Compassionate and respectful approach when interacting with residents.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, hospitality, or care setting.
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2).
Knowledge of food safety and infection control procedures.
