Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and kitchen operations, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills within a professional hospitality environment. The successful applicant will be involved in supporting senior chefs, preparing ingredients, and ensuring the smooth running of daily kitchen activities.

Duties

Assist in food preparation, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and presentation guidelines
Support the kitchen team in cooking and assembling menu items efficiently and accurately
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
Organise ingredients and supplies to facilitate smooth kitchen operations
Supervise junior staff when required, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed effectively
Contribute to menu planning and development by offering creative ideas and feedback
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used correctly and maintained properly
Assist with stock control, including receiving deliveries and storing ingredients appropriately
Uphold excellent customer service standards during serving periods when necessary

Skills

Proven experience in food production, cooking, or hospitality environments
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene practices
Demonstrated leadership or supervising experience within a kitchen setting
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Good team management abilities, fostering a collaborative work environment
Proficient in food preparation techniques and culinary skills
Experience working in restaurants or similar hospitality establishments is highly desirable
Ability to work under pressure during busy service times while maintaining attention to detail
Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and senior staff
