Job Overview

Join our dynamic hospitality team as a Kitchen Porter, where your energy and dedication will keep our kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. In this vital role, you will support chefs and kitchen staff by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring all kitchen areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and organization. Your proactive attitude will help create a welcoming environment for both staff and guests, contributing to the overall excellence of our service. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced culinary setting, perfect for those passionate about hospitality and food service.

Responsibilities

Assist with basic food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients to support chefs during busy service times
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas by washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment efficiently
Ensure all work surfaces, floors, and storage areas are sanitized regularly to uphold health and safety standards
Support the organization of stock by rotating supplies and notifying management of inventory needs or shortages
Help with waste disposal and recycling processes to keep the kitchen tidy and environmentally friendly
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours

Experience

Previous experience working in a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for motivated candidates
Familiarity with food preparation techniques such as washing, peeling, or basic cooking is advantageous
Experience working in a busy kitchen or hotel setting can be beneficial in understanding fast-paced workflows
Knowledge of proper hygiene practices and safety standards within a culinary or hospitality context is desirable
A positive attitude combined with good teamwork skills is essential for success in this role
