Job Summary

At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

The successful fabricators will be expected to work with a variety of industry equipment in carrying out various fabrication duties.

We're looking for individuals that have knowledge of Pipe Bending, Swaging, Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels and other skills as expected with the role.

The role will see candidates working day shifts, on a Monday – Thursday basis, there is opportunity to work night shifts once fully trained which incurs an additional 33% shift premium.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

Work with various materials (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel) in the manufacture of aircraft parts, across a variety of Airbus family of aircraft
Ensure parts are produced on a ‘right first time’ basis
Be responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
Be responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
Adhere to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
Be accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
Hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
Be responsible for general housekeeping within the area
Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential:

A recognised and relevant apprenticeship and relevant NVQ level 3 (Or equivalent)
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work to standard operating procedures
Must be able to work in small teams with Team Leaders
Self-motivated team player with good communication skills

Desirable:

Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to operate CNC Machinery (Unison Pipe Bending machines, Power Presses, CNC Drilling & routering)
Experience of swaging pipework
