Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Phlebotomist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication skills, be proficient in English, and have a keen eye for detail.

The successful candidate will work over both our branches, Kirkliston and Winchburgh.

Duties

Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and capillary techniques with precision and care
Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions throughout the procedure
Label and handle specimens accurately to prevent contamination or mix-ups
Maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work area in accordance with health and safety regulations
Record patient information accurately using IT systems and ensure data integrity
Educate patients on pre-test preparations or post-procedure care as required
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow and high standards of patient care

Requirements

Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar clinical role
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential
Basic IT skills for managing electronic health records and data entry
Ability to teach or explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages and backgrounds
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in specimen handling and documentation
Certification or recognised training in phlebotomy is mandatory
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining compassion and professionalism

Position is 10 hours per week, days and times are negotiable.

£13.84 per hour.

Pay: £1,000.00-£8,000.00 per year
