ABOUT TOGETHERNESS TOURS
Togetherness Tours is one of the most joyful and transformative strands of Blossom Group’s work. We take people from our East London communities — many of whom have never had the opportunity to leave their local area — on affordable, accessible, fully supported day trips across the UK.
For many of our community members, the barriers are real: cost, language, lack of confidence, never having been shown that the wider world is for them too. Our tours remove every one of those barriers. Trips cost just £30 per person. Our guides speak multiple languages. Nobody is left behind.
We have visited Canterbury Cathedral, taken river cruises, explored historic market towns, and opened the country’s doors to people who have lived in it for decades but never had the chance to see it. We have watched children’s worlds grow bigger. We have seen elders experience joy they never expected. We have started to break a cycle that tells certain communities the world is not for them.
It is powerful work. And we need a brilliant team of volunteers to help us run it, grow it, and shout about it.
“We were making a declaration. A declaration that joy is not reserved for the wealthy. That adventure does not belong exclusively to those with the right passport, the right postcode, or the right bank balance. Those people deserve to see this country. To explore it. To fall in love with it.” — Blossom Group
THE THREE VOLUNTEER ROLES
We are recruiting for three complementary volunteer roles within Togetherness Tours. You are welcome to apply for one, two, or all three depending on your skills and availability. Together, these roles cover everything that makes a tour happen — from the very first idea to the last photograph.
Tour Leader
You are on the coach, on the ground, making the magic happen on the day.
Tours Promoter
You spread the word, fill the seats, and tell our stories across social media and the community.
Tours Administrator
You keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes — bookings, paperwork, communications, and logistics.

Role 1: Tour Leader / On-the-Day Manager
ROLE OVERVIEW
Role Title
Volunteer Tour Leader / On-the-Day Manager
Role Type
Voluntary — unpaid
Location
East London departure point + tour destination (varies)
Time Commitment
One full day per tour, plus approx. 2–3 hours preparation beforehand
Responsible To

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Tour Leader is the heartbeat of every Togetherness Tour. You are the person our community members see when they arrive, the voice that guides them through the day, and the presence that makes everyone feel safe, welcome, and genuinely cared for. You do not need to be a professional guide — you need warmth, reliability, good humour, and a genuine love of people.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Before the Tour
- Attend a pre-tour briefing with the Blossom Group team to understand the itinerary, participants, accessibility needs, and any special requirements
- Familiarise yourself with the destination, including key locations, accessibility routes, and points of interest
- Help prepare participant information packs, welcome messages, or translated materials where relevant
- Liaise with the administrator to confirm final numbers, dietary needs, and any participant queries
On the Day
- Arrive early at the departure point to welcome participants as they arrive and create a warm, relaxed atmosphere from the start
- Conduct a register and ensure all participants are safely accounted for throughout the day
- Lead and accompany the group at the destination — guiding, informing, and keeping the energy positive
- Ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of all participants, with particular attention to elders, those with mobility needs, and anyone who may feel anxious
- Manage time effectively to ensure the group keeps to the itinerary without feeling rushed
- Handle any issues, incidents, or concerns calmly and in line with Blossom Group’s safeguarding and health and safety guidance
- Be a friendly, confident, and inclusive presence — translating where you can, bridging where needed, and ensuring nobody feels left out
After the Tour
- Complete a brief post-tour report for the Blossom Group team covering attendance, highlights, any issues, and participant feedback
- Share any photos or stories (with consent) that can be used for social media and impact reporting
- Contribute ideas for improving future tours based on your experience on the day
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Warm, confident, and calm presence — able to lead a group of mixed ages and abilities with care and good humour
- Reliable and punctual — the whole group depends on you
- Comfortable managing practical logistics in a live environment
- Sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds, languages, and needs
- Basic first aid awareness or willingness to undertake basic training
- Commitment to Blossom Group’s values of inclusion, dignity, and belonging
Desirable

Time Commitment
Approx. 3–6 hours per week, flexibly arranged
Responsible To
Blossom Group Leadership Team
DBS Check

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Empty seats on a Togetherness Tour mean lives unchanged. The Tours Promoter makes sure that never happens. Your job is to reach the people who need these tours most — those who have never heard of us, those who feel it is not for them, and those who need just one more nudge to say yes. You will promote our tours both online and directly in the community, in ways that feel genuine, warm, and rooted in our values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media and Digital Promotion
- Create and post engaging content about upcoming Togetherness Tours across Blossom Group’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp communities)
- Write short, warm, accessible promotional copy — in English and ideally in one or more community languages — that speaks directly to the people we are trying to reach
- Share photos, videos, and stories from past tours (with consent) to show people what they can expect
- Respond to enquiries and comments about tours on social media in a timely, friendly, and helpful way
- Help grow our social media following and engagement by tagging relevant community groups, venues, and partners
Community Outreach and Word of Mouth
- Promote tours directly within your own networks — faith groups, community centres, WhatsApp groups, family and friends
- Distribute flyers, posters, and information about upcoming tours at Togetherness Café events and other Blossom Group activities
- Build relationships with community leaders, mosque and temple committees, carers’ networks, GP surgeries, and other grassroots organisations who can spread the word
- Attend community events where appropriate to represent Togetherness Tours and sign people up
Storytelling and Impact
- Gather testimonials, stories, and feedback from tour participants (with consent) for use across our communications
- Help produce simple post-tour social media content — a post, a reel, a quote — to keep the momentum going between tours
- Feed ideas to the leadership team about new ways to reach communities we have not yet connected with
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Confident communicator who can connect with people from all walks of life
- Active and comfortable user of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok)
- Ability to write short, warm, engaging copy in plain, accessible English
- Self-motivated and proactive — able to spot an opportunity and take it
- Genuine belief in what Togetherness Tours is doing and why it matters
Desirable
- Experience in marketing, communications, community outreach, or social media management
- Multilingual skills — the ability to promote in Urdu, Bengali, Somali, Arabic, Polish, Patois, or other community languages would be hugely valuable
- Graphic design skills or experience with Canva for creating simple promotional materials
- Existing networks within East London communities, faith organisations, or diaspora groups
- Photography or short video skills

WHAT ALL THREE ROLES HAVE IN COMMON
Whichever role or roles you take on, you will be part of something genuinely special. These are the things that apply across all three Togetherness Tours volunteer positions:
- A warm induction covering Blossom Group’s work, values, communities, and safeguarding requirements
- A named contact within the leadership team and regular check-ins
- Flexible volunteering arranged around your life and availability
- A professional reference on request following a minimum three-month commitment
- The chance to be part of a growing, joyful, community-led programme that is genuinely changing lives
- Full DBS support from Blossom Group
- The knowledge that every hour you give opens a door for someone who has been waiting their whole life to walk through it
“That child will never go back to the smaller version of themselves. And one day — because they saw it, because they felt it, because someone made it possible — they will take their own children even further. This is how generational change actually happens. Not in grand speeches. Not in policy papers. In a Sunday morning. On a coach. With a flask of tea and a window seat and the whole beautiful country rolling past outside.” — Blossom Group, on Togetherness Tours
CAN I DO MORE THAN ONE ROLE?
Absolutely. Many of our volunteers contribute across more than one area. If you have both organisational skills and a love of social media, or you want to lead tours and also help with admin, we would love to talk to you. We will always work with you to find the right fit for your time, skills, and availability.
