About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Information Governance Manager to lead the operational delivery of the Trust’s Information Governance function. This is a key role in ensuring the Trust processes information safely, lawfully and effectively, in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant public sector standards.

You will provide expert advice and assurance across the Trust, supporting colleagues to understand and meet their responsibilities in relation to data protection, information rights, information security, records handling and information risk. You will oversee core Information Governance processes, including DPIAs, data sharing agreements, privacy notices, information risk assessments, audits, training and incident management.

This role will also act as deputy to the Data Protection Officer, supporting statutory duties and escalation processes. You will manage and develop Information Governance Officers, provide high-quality reports and assurance to senior leaders and governance boards, and help embed a culture of safe, lawful and proportionate information handling across the Trust.

You’ll also:

Lead and manage the operational delivery of the Trust’s Information Governance function.
Provide expert advice on Information Governance, privacy, data protection, information security, FOI, EIR and records handling obligations.
Act as deputy to the Data Protection Officer, supporting statutory duties and escalation processes.
Lead the development and delivery of Information Governance training, awareness activity, policies and review cycles
Lead and quality assure DPIAs, data sharing agreements, privacy notices and information risk assessments.
Manage, support and develop Information Governance Officers through supervision, coaching and performance management
Support incident and data breach management, including root cause analysis, reporting and improvement planning.
Lead Information Governance audits and assurance programmes, producing reports for senior leaders and governance boards.
Maintain oversight of SAR, FOI and information rights processes, ensuring statutory timescales and quality standards are met.
Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS, Police, Education and partner agencies
Provide expert guidance on the Information Governance implications of new systems, digital projects and service changes.

To be successful in this role you will need:

A degree-level qualification, or equivalent experience, in information governance, data protection or a related field.
Significant experience delivering Information Governance services within a public sector or regulated environment.
ing UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 in practice.
Experience supervising staff, providing leadership and quality assurance oversight.
Experience managing complex information and producing high-quality reports.
Expert understanding of Information Governance frameworks, legislation and good practice.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to communicate complex information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
The ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise effectively and manage competing demands
A high level of integrity and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.

This is a hybrid working role, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
