The Opportunity
Jones Lighting is seeking an experienced, positive, and motivated Installation Operative to join our highly regarded Street Lighting team. This is a temp-to-perm position to replace a member of staff on long-term sick leave, offering an immediate start for the right candidate.
Operating as the "Second Man" on a HIAB unit, this role is an exceptional opportunity to utilise your existing street lighting experience while stepping into a secure, fast-paced outdoor working environment. While you must bring core industry tickets with you, we are fully prepared to invest in your long-term development by funding an extensive training package to complete your utility compliance portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Slinger Banksman Duties: Directing and guiding HIAB crane operations safely during column movements, installations, and removals.
- Installation Support: Acting as the crucial Second Man on a HIAB unit, assisting with the safe installation and removal of street lighting columns and foundations.
- Excavation & Reinstatement: Undertaking excavation activities and temporary reinstatement of ground surfaces.
- Site Safety & Compliance: Maintaining exemplary health, safety, and environmental standards on site, with a strong focus on safe working procedures near buried apparatus.
- Traffic Management: Implementing and maintaining effective signing, lighting, and guarding in line with NRSWA Streetworks requirements.
The Successful Candidate
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking individual who already possesses solid experience in street lighting and is ready to hit the ground running.
Mandatory Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated professional experience specifically within the street lighting sector.
- Slinger Banksman: Must hold a valid Slinger Banksman ticket.
- Streetworks: Valid NRSWA Streetworks card.
- Safety Card: Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Availability: Must be available for an immediate start.
- Driving & Commute: A full, clean UK Driving Licence is essential, with the ability to reliably commute to and from the Huddersfield depot for early morning starts (06:30 AM).
Additional Training Provided
We are committed to upskilling our team. If you do not already hold them, we will provide full training and certification for the following:
- EUSR Cat & Genny (Cable Avoidance)
- HEA Card
- ERG39
- Abrasive Wheels
- First Aid at Work & Manual Handling
Salary & Benefits
- Wages: £32,063.85 – £35,902.56 per annum (Depending on Experience and qualifications).
