Full job description

GenesisCare is expanding its UK network with a brand-new cancer care centre in Leeds, bringing together advanced treatment technology, specialist clinical expertise and a patient-centred approach to care.

As one of three founding Medical Secretaries, you will play a vital role in supporting consultants, coordinating patient pathways and helping to establish an exceptional patient experience from day one. This is a unique opportunity to join a new team, contribute to the successful launch of the centre and make a real difference to patients at every stage of their treatment journey.

As a Medical Secretary, you will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to one or more consultants, ensuring the smooth coordination of clinics, appointments and patient pathways. Acting as a key point of contact for patients, consultants and healthcare professionals, you will help ensure patients receive timely, efficient and compassionate support throughout their care journey.

What You'll Do

Manage consultant diaries and support the smooth running of clinics.
Coordinate patient appointments, referrals and diagnostic results.
Prepare and distribute accurate clinic correspondence and medical documentation.
Ensure referral letters are processed promptly to support timely patient access to consultations and treatment.
Act as a key point of contact for patients, consultants and external healthcare providers.
Maintain accurate patient records and support the efficient progression of patient pathways.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the centre to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
Support the successful launch and ongoing operation of the new Leeds centre.

What You'll Have

Previous experience in a Medical Secretary, Healthcare Administrator or similar role.
Experience managing diaries, schedules and appointment bookings.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional and confident telephone manner.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
Audio typing skills or equivalent keyboard skills would be advantageous.
