Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and self-motivated part time Self Employed Seamstress to join and assist our Tailor. This position is for 8 to 12 hours a week. The successful candidate will be responsible for sewing garment and textile alterations as per the instructions of our Tailor and work independently to meet client specifications. The ideal applicant will need to be experienced in clothing alterations, with a keen eye for detail, craftsmanship and be able to follow instructions.

Duties

Sew and repair clothing / textiles according to the Tailors request and specifications
Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and accessories for each project
Maintain a clean, organised workspace with all sewing tools and materials
Communicate effectively with our Tailor regarding progress and adjustments
Be able to use industrial sewing machines, lockstitch, overlock and blind hemming
Be flexible with working hours

Experience

Proven experience as a seamstress or dressmaker
Proficiency in using various sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques
Knowledge of different fabrics, textiles, and garment construction methods
Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements and stitching
Ability to interpret verbal instructions accurately
Experience working independently in a self-employed capacity is required
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about sewing. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality alterations and repairs, following instructions from our Tailor. Proficiency in reading, understanding and speaking the English language is crucial.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
