Full job description

Job Summary

William Hare Group is one of Europe’s largest privately owned steel engineering and fabrication businesses, with operations across the globe.

We prioritise sustainable growth, achieving Carbon Net Zero status in 2021 — a first in our sector. Our investment in technology, training, and digital design allows us to deliver complex structural steel projects across the UK and internationally.

The Materials Buyer will be required to:

Generate and progress accurate purchase orders for raw material, processing and services.
Manage open orders to ensure that required materials and services are available as required for current planned fabrication.
Revise purchase orders in accordance with project variations and cancellations.
Support sourcing activities from our approved vendors in accordance with department procedures and protocols.
Assist with department reporting related to department performance, objectives, stock and specific project requirements.
Review stock against current requirements and taking appropriate approved action.
Maintain and update our Procurement CSR & supplier and manufacturer libraries with accreditations and key documentation.
Develop strong relationships with key suppliers and work with the Materials Manager on supplier performance management.
Drive improvements within their own scope of works.

What are we looking for:

General level of education to GCSE level or equivalent, together with a diploma level qualification in a business/finance related subject and ideally working towards CIPS qualifications is preferred
Reasonable level of experience using ERP/Purchase to Pay purchasing systems and Microsoft Office programs, preferably with a purchasing background in the construction industry
Excellent in the use of Microsoft Office package, particularly Word and Excel
Engaging communicator who can articulate themselves clearly
Can demonstrate a strong work ethic, is self-motivated and resilient
Works well using their own initiative and pays attention to detail
Commitment to completing deadline driven tasks and meeting the needs of the department and specific projects
Enthusiastic team member who will positively contribute to the continued development of the team and wider business

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Bury BL8 1JJ
