Full job description

Overview
We are looking for someone who will join the St Hilda's family in the key position as Designated Safeguarding Lead who champions all of our students, challenges where necessary and celebrates at every opportunity. You will support and develop the people in your team, ensuring all opportunities are taken to lead and share excellent practice. Your vision to support St Hilda's to the next level is paramount.

The ideal candidate will have Qualified Safeguarding Training, preferable DSL, demonstrating strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities and will also have experience of work with safeguarding, social care, pastoral leadership or similar

STRATEGIC PURPOSE:

To carry out the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead as a key member of the senior leadership team.
To manage the behaviour, attendance and pastoral care of students and work effectively with other staff, families and carers to overcome barriers to learning.
To maintain accurate safeguarding records

JOB PURPOSE

The role exists to ensure that:

The school meets all statutory duties for child protection and safeguarding.
Families receive targeted support, early help, and strong home–school communication.
The school achieves excellent attendance, reduces persistent and severe absence, and intervenes early.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role requiring expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation, strong partnership work, and the ability to influence whole‑school culture.

This role is - 39 weeks a year – 40 hours per week. Including out of hours emergencies.
