AWS AI Consultant
Lambert Labs is looking for an AWS AI Consultant to join its team.
We are an AWS Advanced Tier Services partner that helps customers across a wide range of industries build, deploy and scale AI on AWS, modernize their AWS infrastructure and innovate on AWS (with data and AI). Our services are in demand – we have worked with 100+ AWS customers and work very closely with the AWS team locally and globally. They continue to refer more and more of their customers to us if and when the customer requires AWS AI and consulting expertise.
The role
In this role you will work on a variety of projects, including, but not limited to:
- Building generative AI applications using AWS' suite of AI services, primarily Amazon Bedrock - including foundation model selection, Bedrock Agents and Bedrock Knowledge Bases.
- Designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Conducting AI assessments of customer businesses, identifying and prioritizing AI use cases based on generation of business value.
- Using multimodal LLMs to build applications that supercharge existing businesses with AI.
- Building agentic AI workflows that orchestrate tools, data sources and multiple model calls to automate complex tasks.
- Customizing and fine-tuning foundation models, and applying prompt engineering and evaluation techniques to improve accuracy, safety and cost.
- Implementing responsible AI practices, including guardrails, evaluation pipelines, monitoring and human-in-the-loop review.
- Developing and deploying machine learning models with Amazon SageMaker, and building the MLOps pipelines to support them.
- Writing Terraform or CloudFormation to template the AWS infrastructure that AI applications run on.
- Conducting AWS Well-Architected Reviews of customers' AI/ML workloads (including the Generative AI Lens and Machine Learning Lens), writing feedback reports and remediating High-Risk Issues.
Customer engagements are typically less than 4 weeks in duration, but we do have customers who we complete longer engagements with and for some customers we complete multiple engagements each year. Typically, engagements include one or two consultants from the Lambert Labs side working with the customer.
Because we are so deeply immersed in the AWS Partner Program there are also a number of tasks that are focused on this area. These include:
- Training for AWS certifications from the AWS Certification pathway. We expect our AWS AI Consultants to study for and maintain the AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certifications as a minimum, building towards the AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty certification; several of our AWS Consultants have many more certifications. If you don't yet have these certifications, we will give you time and training to obtain them.
- Writing funding applications for AWS Proof of Concepts, the AWS Well-Architected Partner Program, the AWS Migration Acceleration Program or other AWS funding programs.
- Applying for AWS Competencies and AWS Service Delivery validations on behalf of Lambert Labs. As things stand, Lambert Labs has the Generative AI, SMB, DevOps and Nonprofit Consulting Competencies, along with 6 different AWS service-specific Service Delivery validations - and we are actively expanding our AI-focused validations.
- Engaging with AWS Solutions Architects and AWS Account Managers aligned with our customer accounts.
- Attending events. Our AWS Consultants attend AWS Experience events and also sometimes attend when we are exhibiting at industry events (in 2026 we are exhibiting at Big Data and AI London, DTX London, DTX Manchester, AWS Summit London, AWS Cloud Day Dublin and DIGIT Edinburgh).
- Speaking at industry events.
- Writing customer case studies or technical articles for our website or other platforms.
Who we are looking for
While technical skills are important, we are hiring for aptitude and attitude above all else. We are looking for a natural communicator and a rapid learner who wants to grow a small business with huge potential. What we are most interested in is your ability to learn quickly - which matters more than ever in a field moving as fast as AI.
A quick note on sponsorship: we would absolutely love to welcome talent from all over the world, but as a small/growing team, we aren't able to sponsor visas right now. Because of this, we can only consider candidates who already have the permanent right to work in the UK. Thank you for understanding!
What matters most
- Exceptional communication: you can explain complex concepts with clarity, both orally and in writing. You are an active listener and can build rapport with customers and colleagues alike.
- Knack for learning fast: you are driven to understand how things work and are not intimidated by new technologies — essential in a field where the state of the art changes every few weeks.
- A problem-solving mindset: you are resourceful, logical, and enjoy breaking down a complex challenge into manageable steps to find a solution.
- Motivation and drive: you have a proactive, can-do attitude and are passionate about delivering high-quality work and making a real impact.
Your background
- A 2:1 or higher in a technical degree.
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing concepts, preferably on AWS.
- Experience with three or more of the following:
- Building applications or workloads with foundation models such as OpenAI's GPT or Anthropic Claude, preferably via Amazon Bedrock.
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings and vector databases (e.g. Amazon OpenSearch, Aurora pgvector, Amazon Kendra).
- Prompt engineering, model evaluation, and techniques for improving the accuracy, safety and cost of LLM applications.
- Building agentic workflows or tool-using AI systems.
- Machine learning and model deployment with Amazon SageMaker, including MLOps practices.
- Data engineering and visualisation using Amazon Redshift and Amazon QuickSight to support AI/ML workloads.
- Infrastructure as code (IaC) with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Containerization of Python, NodeJS, PHP and .NET applications using Docker on either Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS or AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
- The ability to confidently assess the strengths and weaknesses of customers' AI workloads and underlying AWS infrastructure from a performance, security, reliability and cost perspective.
- You do not need to have AWS certifications when applying for this role, but you will be expected to study for and pass the AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certifications in your first year in this role.
- A strong software engineering background is highly valued; we write and maintain lots of Python applications, and most of our AI work is built in Python.
- If you have any exciting AI projects that make use of LLMs and/or foundation models that would be of real interest to us; we build and deploy interesting AI apps for our customers.
