About this job

As a Fire & Building Safety Surveyor, you will conduct detailed surveys of properties managed by the Council, contributing to a comprehensive database and providing expert advice on fire safety and compliance. Your role ensures that fire risk assessments are completed accurately and on time, maintaining the highest standards for all properties and meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements. You will deliver exceptional service to staff, residents, leaseholders, managing agencies, and property owners.

â€¢ Provide expert advice on the condition and value of council properties, recommending actions for fire and building safety â€¢ Communicate effectively with various stakeholders. â€¢ Investigate building defects, focusing on fire and building safety, and recommend solutions. â€¢ Conduct feasibility studies, provide estimates, drawings, and specifications for required work. â€¢ Prepare reports and offer technical advice and training on fire and building safety. â€¢ Support the service's activities and growth through various surveying tasks. â€¢ Stay updated on fire and building safety requirements. â€¢ Conduct property visits and desk-based surveying activities independently and remotely. â€¢ Manage fire risk assessment tasks, ensuring timely completion and regular reporting. â€¢ Liaise with Fire Authorities and ensure compliance with Notices of Deficiencies. â€¢ Ensure specifications meet current legislative standards. â€¢ Obtain quotations and estimates following procurement procedures. â€¢ Maintain high standards of communication and customer care with all stakeholders. â€¢ Monitor and report on performance to ensure work is within budget and value for money is achieved. â€¢ Identify and suggest improvements to procedures, processes, and quality control. â€¢ Provide advice on construction and building matters, including desktop reviews of new development drawings and specifications. â€¢ Monitor contractor and consultant performance, providing reports to the Fire and Building Safety Lead. â€¢ Conduct post-inspection quality checks and ensure satisfactory completion of works. â€¢ Perform H&S spot checks and ensure contractor compliance with Health & Safety risk assessments and method statements. â€¢ Manage complaints, taking ownership and providing written responses as required. â€¢ Keep accurate records of site progress, variations, snagging, and health and safety. â€¢ Update systems on job progress and record customer contacts, complaints, actions, and learning points on CRM. â€¢ Regularly inspect sites to ensure compliance with quality controls, contract conditions, legislation, and defect-free standards.

You are dynamic and experienced with a passion for Fire Safety. You have a proactive and a creative problem-solving mindset and capable of addressing challenges. You possess proven ability to inspire and motivate the team to achieve ambitious goals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. You are adept at overseeing day-to-day high standard of service delivery, ensuring efficiency, compliance, safety and engagement of residents. You are skilled in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including residents, elected members, and partners.
