Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team within a financial services environment. This role is ideal for an individual at the early stages of their accounting career who is eager to build practical experience and develop a strong foundation in finance operations.
The successful candidate will support daily accounting activities, assist with financial processes, and work closely with senior team members to ensure accuracy and efficiency across core finance functions. This role offers valuable exposure to accounting systems, reporting processes, and financial controls within a fast-paced and collaborative environment, including the opportunity to work closely with and report to the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Transaction Support
- Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records, including data entry and basic journal postings
- Support the processing of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable tasks, including invoice processing and reconciliations
Month End & Financial Close Support
- Provide support during month-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met
- Assist with basic reconciliations and help investigate discrepancies
- Support the preparation of internal reports and schedules as required
Reporting & Financial Assistance
- Assist in compiling financial data for reporting purposes
- Support the finance team in preparing documentation for audits and reviews
- Work closely with senior team members to ensure data accuracy and consistency
Controls, Compliance & Processes
- Follow established financial controls and company policies
- Support compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standards
- Assist in identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency
Systems & Administrative Support
- Use finance systems and Excel to input and manage financial data
- Maintain organised records and supporting documentation
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team when required
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Studying towards or interested in pursuing ACCA, ACA, or CIMA, or equivalent
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred but not essential
Experience & Mindset
- Some prior experience in a finance or administrative role is an advantage
- Basic understanding of accounting principles is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Positive attitude with a proactive approach to work
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with accounting systems is beneficial but not essential
- Ability to work with numerical data accurately
